Explore the Pink City of Jaipur

India’s Pink City, Jaipur lives up to its names with majestic palaces, spacious gardens and bustling bazaars. Maharaja Sawal Jai Singh II founded the city in the early 18th century. The city rose to international fame when the Prince of Wales visited India in 1876, and the then king, Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur, had the entire city painted in pink. Dotted with blue houses near the Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur is a royal city that also makes a stunning backdrop for beautiful photographs. The Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur is one of the largest forts in Rajasthan and will take you back in history. Besides the fort, the other places you must explore in Jodhpur are the Umaid Bhawan Palace, Mandore Gardens, Kailana Lake, Chamunda Mata Temple, Clock Tower and Jaswant Thada.

City in the Desert, Jaisalmer

In the heart of the Thar Desert is the city of Jaisalmer. Aptly called the “Golden City”, golden sands surround it and the structures around are also built with gold coloured sandstone. To start with you must visit the Jaisalmer Fort and also spend some time at the desert camp. You can also go on camel rides away and go around the sand dunes that abound in Jaisalmer. A city torn by constant warfare in the past, Bikaner is now a popular tourist destination in Rajasthan known for its sweets and food. You must visit the Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace, and taste authentic Rajasthani cuisine when here. There are also a number of fairs that the city hosts from time to time that is colourful and lively.

Holy City of Pushkar

The city of Pushkar famous for the Pushkar lake lies in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. According to Hindu mythology, the Pushkar Lake was created by the tears of Lord Shiva. Besides the lake, you will also come across many temples and ghats like the Brahma Temple, Apteshwar Temple, Savitri Temple. The annual camel fair is hosted in Pushkar for five days every year and also hosts camel races.

Relive history in Chittorgarh

The ancient city that was once known as ‘Chittor’ is now known as Chittorgarh. It is said that the city was founded by the Maurya Dynasty. It rose to prominence under the Sisodiya Rajputs who made the city the capital of Mewar. The Chittorgarh Fort is of course the major attractions. You must also check out Fateh Prakash Palace, Rani Padmini Palace, and the Vijay Stambh.

A desert hill station, Mount Abu

Situated in the Aravalli mountain range, Mount Abu is a unique hill station in the middle of a desert. In the Mahabharata, it is mentioned as the resting place of the great sage, Vashishtha. It has many temples like the Dilwara Jain temples and Achaleshwar Mahadev temple. The Sunset Point, Mount Abu Bazaars, Toad Rock, and the wildlife sanctuary are some of the other locations you must visit when in Mount Abu.

A day in the wild, Bharatpur

An UNESCO World Heritage site, the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is one of the best bird sanctuaries in India. The sanctuary is home to more than 370 species of birds. And also a larger number of migratory birds visit the sanctuary over time. During the days before the sanctuary existed, the local Maharajas used to hunt ducks here.
